I am certified as a divorce mediator by the Massachusetts Council
on Family Mediation. I am also an advanced practitioner in the family
section of the Association for Conflict Resolution.
My law practice specializes in divorce mediation and non-adversarial
family law. This includes both traditional and non-traditional families,
i.e. gay, lesbian and unmarried partners who live together. I believe
it is especially important to avoid the ravages of litigation when
children are involved.
My practice also includes collaborative law. Both parties in collaborative
law are represented by attorneys who unconditionally promise not
to litigate. Without adversarial recourse, both clients and counsel
are compelled to seek a negotiated agreement. If the collaborative
process fails, the parties must retain new lawyers to litigate their
unsettled dispute. I believe collaborative legal representation
offers the best hope for a non-adversarial resolution when mediation
is not an option.
Mediating family disputes remains at the heart of my practice.
